HELM Training Programme 2010
Stopping the Rot Liverpool LeafletHELM Training courses are free of charge (unless stated) and funded through the HELM training programme. Training events are tailored to meet the needs of specific audience groups including conservation officers, planning officers, development control and councillors. HELM training courses address current issues and respond where possible to local training demand. Please read the section in the promotional leaflet detailing 'who should attend?' to see whether this course is appropriate to you. Further information about each course will be published on this webpage as soon as it is available.

Each course has a limited capacity and are often fully booked at an early stage. Please reserve your place asap to avoid disappointment.

NOTE: The training courses listed below are aimed at staff in local authorities and similar organisations whose work impacts on the historic environment. If you do not work for a local authority and/ or your job role is not in the target audience you can still add your name to the waiting list, last minute places may become available. If you are a Heritage Champion please e-mail HeritageChampions@english-heritage.org.uk to enquire about available training for Champions.

4th March. Finding a Future for Traditional Farm Buildings: From Spatial Planning to Local Action. Worcester. For Local Authority strategic planners and key stakeholders who deal with rural land management issues in the historic environment.
11th March. The Care, Conservation and Management of Change of London’s Historic Fire Stations. London. For London conservation, planning and historic buildings staff who are involved with the conservation and management of London's historic fire stations. 25th March. Traditional Domestic Buildings and Energy Efficiency: Practical Advice for Local Authorities. Castlefield, Manchester. For Local Authority staff who provide advice and make informed decisions about energy efficiency measures in traditional domestic buildings. English Heritage and invited speakers will discuss the different ways to make traditional domestic buildings more energy efficient without damaging their special character and performance.

Colleagues from Building Preservation Trusts will also find this training useful. EH & invited specialists will use case studies to illustrate how existing statutory powers including Urgent Works Notices, Repairs Notices and Compulsory Purchase Orders can be used effectively.
