Heritage Champions

Councillor Andrew Curtin
YHNY

Every local authority deserves the benefits that a Heritage Champion can bring. Champions across the country are using the historic environment as an asset to help achieve their local authority’s strategic goals and bring a better quality of life to their community.

Are you interested in becoming a Heritage Champion?

If you are, why not discuss the matter with the Leader of your authority and your fellow councillors. Many authorities have asked Cabinet Members with a related portfolio (such as Environment, Design, Regeneration or Community Development) to take on the role, while others have appointed a non-executive Member through the Committee system.

If your authority appoints a Champion, please let us know so we can keep you informed of relevant publications, training opportunities and other developments.
